ARC Raiders Is Missing the PvE Option Its Rivals Keep Adding

Embark Studios has tested a PvE-focused map condition in China, but there is still no indication that it will reach the Western version before the next major update in October 2026.

ARC Raiders is built around the tension of fighting other players while dealing with the dangers of its world. That formula has become the game’s identity, but it also leaves Embark Studios with a question that keeps coming up in the community: why is there still no proper PvE option?

Player-versus-environment content has become common across the extraction shooter space. Some games offer separate PvE servers, while others use dedicated modes, map conditions, or bot-filled sessions. ARC Raiders remains one of the more prominent exceptions, even as players continue to ask for a way to play without the constant threat of human opponents.

Could PvE help ARC Raiders?

There is no guarantee that a PvE mode would solve every problem facing ARC Raiders. Still, a separate way to play could give players more control over how they spend time in the game and provide a softer entry point for people who do not enjoy competitive extraction matches.

The next major ARC Raiders update is scheduled for October 2026. Embark has described it as the game’s biggest update yet, but the available information does not confirm whether it will include PvE content. That leaves players guessing about whether the studio plans to answer one of the community’s most repeated requests.

Embark has tested a different version of ARC Raiders in China that includes a PvE-focused map condition. That discovery shows the studio has at least considered a format built around environmental threats, but there is no indication that the same feature will be added to the Western release.

That gap has become harder to ignore because other extraction games have continued to add PvE alternatives. Escape from Tarkov has a separate PvE platform alongside its core PvPvE experience. Arena Breakout Infinite is also adding a permanent PvE mode, while Bungie has been working on a full PvE mode for Marathon.

The list goes well beyond those three games. Incursion: Red River is built as a PvE-only extraction shooter, and Escape from Duckov uses a PvE foundation for its parody take on the genre. Delta Force includes a PvE mode, while Gray Zone Warfare offers PvE through Joint Operations.

Other extraction-focused games, including ZERO Sievert, Dark and Darker, Cargo Hunters, Far Far West, The Forever Winter, Road to Vostok, and Ghosts of Tabor, also provide PvE in some form. Not every game in the genre follows that path, but the growing list makes ARC Raiders’ position stand out.

Embark has already tested PvE ideas elsewhere

Embark recently added a limited PvE-style option to The Finals through practice lobbies populated by bots. That is not the same as a full ARC Raiders mode, but it shows that the studio has used bot-focused play as part of its wider shooter strategy.

ARC Raiders itself was also shaped by an internal debate over its PvP systems during development. PvP was reportedly questioned at one point and may not have remained in the project, yet it ultimately became central to the experience Embark wanted to deliver.

That history may explain why the studio has been cautious about adding a mode that changes the game’s core rhythm. Even so, the growing demand for PvE is not going away, and October’s update will give Embark a clear chance to show whether it has an answer.
