Apex Legends Tests Longer Ranked Queues for Platinum+ Players
The active test covers every platform and region, with Masters players facing a maximum queue-time extension of about 30 seconds.

Apex Legends is testing longer Ranked queues for players at Platinum and above, giving the matchmaker more time to build tighter skill bands before it expands its search. Respawn activated the test on Oct. 9 across all platforms and regions, with the added wait scaling by rank tier, according to its Oct. 9 Steam update.
Masters players may see their maximum queue time increase by about 30 seconds. The test will run until the end of the season or until Respawn has gathered enough data.
Respawn is aiming to reduce high-ranked players spilling into mid-rank matches. The matchmaker will spend longer seeking its tightest possible lobbies before widening the search, trading potentially longer queues for closer-ranked opponents.
The trial follows earlier high-rank solo-queue tests, which barely changed match outcomes and will not become permanent. This test keeps the existing queue format and instead gives matchmaking more time to find suitable lobbies. Respawn is asking players to share whether their matches feel more evenly matched.
