Apex Legends is testing Diamond+ solo queues on June 30
The ranked experiment runs through July 13 unless the team gathers enough data sooner, and Diamond-or-higher players will not be able to queue as a premade squad.

Apex Legends is testing Diamond+ solo queues on June 30, with the ranked experiment beginning at 10 a.m. PT and staying live through July 13 unless the team gathers enough data sooner.
The official ApexLiveComms post on X says players ranked Diamond or higher will not be able to enter Ranked as a premade squad during the test window. In practice, that means the upper end of Ranked will be forced into solo matchmaking while the trial is running.
A recent matchmaking blog explained why the solo-queue test moved back. The team said it had been running frequent matchmaking tests, some of which led to outages in the last split, and that it wanted the systems in a safer place before moving ahead.
The studio now says recent stability checks suggest June 30 should be a workable start date, so the experiment is back on the calendar.
