Albion Online’s latest Rogue Frontier Patch 7, released on May 12, 2025, rolls out a series of combat balance changes that might shift how you approach fights. From cursed staffs to daggers and armor, the update targets some of the most impactful abilities and gear, eager to keep battles fair without dulling the excitement.
Patch Notes Highlights
- Cursed Staffs
- Cursed Tar cooldown increased from 3s to 4s to tone down its group fight dominance.
- Inner Shadow tweaks: plate effect area now tracks the target, cloth effect initial tick sped up (0.2s to 0.1s), and leather effect damage against players raised from 33 to 40.
- Daggers
- Throwing Blades movement speed buff per stack reduced from 25% to 15%, balancing its damage boost with less mobility.
- Frost Staffs
- Frost Lance damage lowered from 160 to 148 after cast time removal made it too strong.
- Hail now applies a 10% slow for 2 seconds, adding utility for Great Frost Staff users.
- Shapeshifter Staffs
- Unstable Projectile cone splash damage increased from 40 to 44, helping hit enemies near the main target.
- Armors
- Requite damage reduced from 31 to 27 to balance its strong defense, damage, and crowd control in 1v1 fights.
- Miscellaneous
- Judgment visuals updated for better clarity in large-scale battles.
- Several abilities no longer require line of sight, including Cursed Tar, Explosive Bolt, Explosive Mine, Fatal Blade, and Seedling’s Bloom.
These adjustments reflect the developers’ ongoing effort to keep Albion’s combat fresh and balanced. The cooldown increase on Cursed Tar might frustrate some, but it’s a necessary tweak after its previous buff made it a bit too oppressive in group fights. Meanwhile, the small damage and utility changes across other weapons and armor pieces could subtly shift meta choices.
Personally, I’ve seen how Requite can feel like an unbreakable wall in duels, so dialing back its damage might open up more counterplay. The line of sight removal on certain abilities could also lead to some unexpected plays, especially in chaotic team fights.
