Age of Mythology: Retold has a small but significant update that fixes a pesky PS5 multiplayer access error, along with some crashes and UI glitches. If you’ve been stuck or frustrated, this patch might be the relief you’re waiting for. Just remember to reboot your PS5 fully after installing it!
The developers have been listening closely to the community, which is shown here. The fix targets the “0001-0001-ffffffff” error that blocked some players from jumping into multiplayer on PlayStation 5. The problem was caused by the game requesting too many tokens too fast, so they adjusted how tokens are issued. Fingers crossed, this will clear the path for smoother matchmaking. They’re watching the situation closely to confirm it’s doing the trick.
Crashes that popped up when updating friend data or failing to load news images were also squashed. Those repeated launch crashes were a real pain, so seeing those gone is great. The spectator and replay UI now behave properly again, fixing their weird display bug.
Controller users get a fix too! The “Quick Find Selects Control Groups” option is finally back to respecting your settings after it broke in the last patch. That little thing can make a big difference when you’re in the heat of battle.
On top of that, the team added support for new challenge types driven by servers, which means next month’s Community Event could bring some fresh twists. Also, a mission skip bug in “Fall of the Trident 06: I Hope This Works” has been removed, so no more accidental mission skips when selecting specific towers. That’s gotta feel better, right?

Developer note: If you still have freeze issues on PS5 after this update, a full reboot of your console might be necessary. Some players reported this helped them a lot. The devs even shared a technical blog on Reddit explaining more: PS5 Fixes Developer Update : r/AgeofMythology.
Custom mods might not work with this update immediately. If you run into problems launching or playing, try disabling mods first before jumping in again.
