Grand Theft Auto 6 Set to Feature Advanced Graphics and Real-Time Weather Systems, According to Reports

Only a few titles have the power to command as much attention as the Grand Theft Auto series. While Rockstar Games has confirmed they are working on Grand Theft Auto 6, they have not yet officially revealed it. However, a recent update from French outlet Rockstar Magazine gives us some intriguing details about the game’s new features and technical advancements.

Before diving into the specifics, it’s important to note that this information is not official and is still subject to change. After a lot of research, the magazine collected the details, and they explicitly mention that not all the features may make it to the final game. So, take everything you read here with a grain of salt.

According to Rockstar Magazine, Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to make significant strides in graphical fidelity, particularly with real-time physically simulated water implementation. This is quite an accomplishment, as real-time water simulation has traditionally been challenging. The magazine reports that activities like surfing could be possible in the game, thanks to the advanced water physics.

The game is also expected to feature an updated vehicle system, with increased polygon counts that allow for more realistic deformations. Rockstar Magazine says the driving experience will be similar to that of Grand Theft Auto 5 but fine-tuned to balance natural and arcade-style gameplay.

Moreover, the game will likely employ physics-based rendering for more natural and realistic lighting. This could be incredibly impactful for gameplay set in Vice City, the game’s rumored location and a place known for its vibrant nightlife. On top of that, the game will supposedly include a real-time weather system that will influence the environment and gameplay mechanics. This means that things like wind and rain could affect driving conditions.
