Salt and Sacrifice, the successor to Ska Studios’ well-regarded 2D Souls-like game Salt and Sanctuary, is making its way to Nintendo Switch and Steam platforms on November 7th. Already available on PS4, PS5, and PC through the Epic Games Store, this action RPG offers a fresh experience for fans of the genre.
The game places players in a world under attack from dangerous Mages. You take on the role of a Marked Inquisitor, tasked with hunting down these magic-wielders. Unlike its predecessor, which had a more Metroidvania style, Salt and Sacrifice leans closer to Monster Hunter. Players will need to chase down their targets across different levels, with the goal of defeating them to collect valuable materials.
You can then use these materials to craft stronger weapons and armor, including gear sets that offer unique bonuses. Players also have the opportunity to learn Runic Arts, abilities that give them an edge in battle.
A recently released trailer has revealed new features like Mage Hunts. These are special missions where you are tasked with hunting a powerful boss. Successful completion rewards you with Eldritch materials, which can be used to craft even more powerful gear. For example, one of the sets you can craft offers poison damage, making it particularly effective when playing with a more defensive character.
