Deep Silver, the video game publisher behind the popular zombie action RPG Dead Island 2, has announced that the game’s first story expansion, called “Haus,” will be released on November 2, 2023. This addition to the game will take players on a new journey as they explore a “surreal, psycho-horror dreamscape” while investigating a mysterious cult in Malibu.
“Haus” promises to provide a fresh narrative, introducing a secret billionaire’s techno-death cult struggling to survive in a world overrun by zombies. According to Deep Silver, the expansion will offer several new tools to help players stay, including an explosive crossbow. It will also feature eight new skill cards, adding more variety to the gameplay.
Deep Silver has also revealed that another story expansion for Dead Island 2, SOLA Festival, will be available in the second quarter of 2024. Both developments are part of the game’s Expansion Pass, priced at $29.99 or £24.99.
First announced back in 2014, Dead Island 2 had a rocky development process, experiencing multiple delays and a change in developers. Development duties were eventually handed to Dambuster, an internal studio at Deep Silver, in 2019. Despite these setbacks, the game was released in April for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC via the Epic Games Store and performed well in sales.
