Codemasters is pulling out all the stops for its latest rally game, EA Sports WRC, set to release on November 3, 2023. An extensive 10-minute gameplay video (embedded above) gives fans a closer look at what they can expect. Rally driver and game designer Jon Armstrong takes the wheel in this exclusive peek, tackling three rally tracks and driving different cars. The game promises to deliver a unique racing experience that combines real-world scenarios.
The gameplay video features Jon Armstrong driving through three rally tracks:
- Rally Estonia Route #9 (Vahessaare, 6.2km)
- Rally Japan Route #01 (Lake Mikawa, 19.9km)
- Rally Sweden Route #04 (Lauksjoen, 11km)
He drives different cars on these tracks, including the Hyundai i20 N Rally1 HYBRID, Škoda Fabia RS Rally2, and Ford Fiesta Rally3. This showcases the variety and depth of the car roster, which could make or break a player’s rally experience.
The game shows dynamic weather changes, from heavy snow to light rain to clear skies, alongside different times of the day. It goes to great lengths to show how these conditions affect the driving experience, down to how your chosen vehicle responds on different terrains.
The video also gives us a glimpse of the Dynamic Handling System, which the Codemasters team claims is the most realistic they’ve ever made. This handling model is expected to make the cars feel closer to their real-world counterparts, offering a more authentic rally experience.
Different camera perspectives allow players to experience the game in various ways. Whether you prefer a cockpit view, bonnet, bumper, or chase camera, EA Sports WRC aims to provide you with a customized experience tailored to your liking.
In addition to high-speed rallying, EA Sports WRC will allow you to build your dream car with its Builder mode. A Moments mode allows players to race through key highlights and challenges that mimic real-world events.
With more than 200 rally stages, 78 real-world cars, and additional features like Builder and Moments modes, EA Sports WRC seems to be shaping up as a comprehensive rally game package.
If you pre-order the game, you’ll get three days of early access, all five VIP Rally Pass seasons, and the 3x Team Apparel Pack. Given the level of detail and realism in the gameplay video, the pre-order package could be a good deal for eager fans.
EA Sports WRC is coming out on November 3, 2023, for the Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. For those itching to take on varied terrains and experience different rally conditions, this game appears to offer just that and then some.
