Fans of the famous hardcore FPS game, “Escape From Tarkov,” have something new to discuss. Battlestate Games, the developers behind the wild, appealing, and realistic shooter, have confirmed that a game wipe is imminent.

In a tweet from their official account, the developers shared:
“Today, August 10, at 8:00AM BST/3:00AM EDT we are planning to install patch 0.13.5. The installation will take approximately 6 hours, but may be extended if required. The game will not be accessible during this period. There will be wipe with the patch.”

A wipe means that all player progression will be reset for newcomers to the game. All items, experience, and in-game currency will be cleared, returning players to square one. Such wipes are typical in the development cycle of “Escape From Tarkov” as they help to ensure game balance and provide an even playing field after significant updates or changes.
This announcement follows closely on the heels of an event on August 7, which saw the spawn rate of bosses on each map increase to 100%. This was the indicator of a near-wipe.
