Fans of the popular video game franchise Final Fantasy have been anxiously awaiting the release of the sixteenth game in the series, and it seems that they may get a taste of the action sooner than expected. A demo for Final Fantasy 16, the highly-anticipated action role-playing game (RPG), has recently been spotted on the PlayStation Store, implying its release is imminent.
Although the demo can’t yet be downloaded, its appearance on the PlayStation Store is a promising sign for those eagerly waiting to try the game before its full release later this month. Gamers have been on tenterhooks since November last year, when Square Enix, the game’s developer, announced plans to release a demo of Final Fantasy 16 ahead of its launch. With less than a month to go until the game’s release, the demo is expected to become available soon, possibly even sooner than some fans may have anticipated.
Sharp-eyed Reddit users first noticed the demo’s listing on the PlayStation Store. While downloads are not yet available, the demo’s appearance suggests that an official announcement and release could be imminent.
In a previous statement earlier this year, Square Enix confirmed that the demo for Final Fantasy 16 would become available roughly two weeks before the full game’s launch. If their timeline holds, fans can expect the demo to be released soon. The demo, expected to last approximately two hours, will give players an opportunity to experience the game’s world, characters, and gameplay mechanics before its full release. Players will also be able to carry over their progress from the demo into the full game.
Final Fantasy 16 is scheduled to launch on the PlayStation 5 on June 22. Post-launch, Square Enix has plans to develop a PC version of the game. The developer has also hinted at the possibility of post-launch downloadable content (DLC), though this will depend on the game’s initial reception.
