On June 22, 2023, the war game Six Days in Fallujah will finally be available on Steam Early Access. Offering a groundbreaking portrayal of the Second Battle of Fallujah, the game promises to provide a highly realistic, first-person tactical military shooting experience that brings the harsh realities of war to the virtual gaming world. The Early Access trailer for the game can be found at the top of the article.
Six Days in Fallujah is not your average war game, created in partnership with over a hundred Marines, Soldiers, and Iraqi civilians who served during the Second Battle of Fallujah. Developed by Victura, the game aims to create an immersive representation of one of the most challenging urban battles in recent history, drawing heavily on the actual experiences and stories of those there.
Six Days in Fallujah introduces a 4-player tactical cooperative mode in a novel approach to co-op gaming, forcing players to rely heavily on team coordination and proficiency, with enemy AI utilizing real-world tactics that made the battle one of the bloodiest in half a century, every move a player makes could mean life or death for their character.
The game features an innovative procedural architecture system, offering a unique challenge to players. Each time a mission is initiated, the layout of buildings changes, enemy positions are reconfigured, and new threats arise. This game-changing mechanism amplifies the unpredictable nature of warfare, keeping players on their toes at all times.
Enemy AI has also been developed to exhibit a high degree of flexibility, capable of moving anywhere on the battlefield and deploying various strategies against the player. The game’s realistic battle scenarios can prove extremely difficult without a solid team and a sound system.
In addition, Six Days in Fallujah distinguishes itself with its indoor/outdoor sandbox approach. Whether rooftop assaults, cross-building plank maneuvers, or door-to-door combat, the game offers many options for overcoming challenges. However, each player’s decision also comes with its consequences, further amplifying the game’s realism.
Early Access release will focus on the initial days of the invasion in the northern part of the city, where coalition forces faced numerous insurgents and few civilians. Future updates will expand on this, adding more maps, varying weather conditions, and times of day and introducing real-world special operations forces, equipment, and missions.
As Early Access progresses, players will see glimpses of the story campaign missions. These missions, derived from specific true stories, are narrated by Americans and Iraqis present during the battle.
