In a turn of events, recent leaks suggest that the highly anticipated 2023 installment of the Call of Duty franchise will indeed be titled “Modern Warfare 3“, contradicting earlier reports which denied this possibility. The game, a sequel to last year’s “Modern Warfare 2“, is being developed by Sledgehammer Games, with support from Infinity Ward and Treyarch.
Tom Henderson from Insider Gaming has reported that “Modern Warfare 3” will offer a single-player campaign and multiplayer options and introduce a novel Zombies mode. The new mode, “Outbreak 2.0” is currently being discussed at Activision. The company deliberates whether to include it in the game or launch it as a free-to-play experience. Previous reports had hinted at a standalone Call of Duty: Zombies game in the pipeline.
Moreover, “Modern Warfare 3” is set to enhance the franchise’s Battle Royale experience. Based on the “Las Almas” location from the “Modern Warfare 2” campaign, a new map is expected to debut in Call of Duty: Warzone 2 during the game’s first season. The launch of the new map is planned for early December, adding an exciting extension to the Warzone universe.
Fans of the franchise can look forward to trying out the game ahead of its official release, with beta weekends scheduled for October 2023. The official release is slated for November 10, 2023, on multiple platforms, including PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
