The Legend of Zelda franchise is known for its captivating stories, enchanting worlds, and memorable dungeons. The developers have confirmed that the upcoming game, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, will bring back traditional dungeons with their regional aesthetic and challenges.
In a recent Q&A, the game’s developers revealed some intriguing details about the upcoming title. Among the highlights, the team confirmed the return of the much-anticipated, traditional Zelda-style dungeons. Director Hidemaro Fujibayashi said, “This time, the dungeons are huge and each carry their own regional look and feel, just like traditional The Legend of Zelda games.”
These revelations are exciting for fans who missed the classic dungeon-crawling experience in Breath of the Wild. Not only will the dungeons be back, but they also seem to have taken a new form. According to Fujibayashi, one of the dungeons connects directly to Hyrule’s surface. Diving from the sky straight into this dungeon will trigger an event, offering a new experience not possible in the previous game.
The return to the traditional style of dungeons represents a blend of the old and the new. The developers have taken the feedback from Breath of the Wild to heart, maintaining the innovative open-world exploration while bringing back beloved elements from the past.
In addition to the dungeons, the developers also discussed how the game’s setting has expanded to include the skies and caves of Hyrule, another development that promises a more extensive world to explore.
