WWE 2K23 has toppled the highly anticipated Hogwarts Legacy from its five-week position as the UK’s best-selling physical video game, according to the latest Gfk charts.
Despite selling 26% fewer boxed copies at launch compared to its predecessor, WWE 2K23, the latest wrestling game from 2K managed to claim the top spot. It’s worth noting that this data only reflects physical sales and digital sales may account for the difference.
Breaking down the sales by platform, 53% of WWE 2K23’s boxed sales were on PS5, followed by 23% on PS4, 15% on Xbox Series S and X, and 9% on Xbox One. The Xbox Series figure is expected to rise once digital sales data is included, partly due to the strong sales of the Xbox Series S console, which is digital-only.
Hogwarts Legacy dropped to second place, experiencing a 24% decrease in sales week-on-week, while FIFA 23 secured the third spot with a 26% drop in sales. Nintendo Switch titles Mario Kart 8: Deluxe and Metroid Prime: Remastered filled the fourth and fifth spots, respectively, both experiencing an increase in sales.
Super Mario Odyssey made a surprising re-entry into the top 10 at number nine, thanks to a new Nintendo Switch bundle and the upcoming Super Mario Bros movie. The game saw a 40% increase in sales this week. You can see the detailed data in the list below:
