Fans of the 2017 social horror game Deceit have been eagerly anticipating the upcoming sequel, Deceit 2, and a new teaser released at the Streamer Awards has provided some tantalizing details about the game’s mechanics and setting.
Narrated by the villainous Game Master in his rabbit-inspired costume, the teaser showcases Deceit 2’s fleshed-out game mechanics, which include three new characters, new maps, combat abilities, and items. The game will also feature next-gen visuals developed in Unreal Engine 5.
One of the most intriguing new features revealed in the teaser is the Ritual of Deceit, which takes place in the In-Between. In this supernatural realm, players gain terrifying powers to hunt down the Innocent. The Infected can trigger Blood Altars to transport all players to the In-Between, where one of the Innocent must die for the rest to escape. However, vigilant players can use their detective skills to prevent such scenarios.
Once an Infected has been identified, the Innocent can trigger a banishing ritual to eliminate them, but they risk misidentifying and killing one of their own. These new mechanics add an extra layer of strategy and tension to the already intense gameplay of Deceit.
Deceit 2 will feature expanded player caps, with up to nine players able to participate in a single game. The game will release for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox sometime later in 2023, and it can be wishlisted now.
Deceit 2 looks to be an exciting and highly anticipated sequel that builds upon the original game’s strengths while introducing new elements to keep players engaged and on edge. Fans of the first game will no doubt be eagerly anticipating its release.
