It looks like the days of Warcraft fans being tied down to their computer are finally gone. Blizzard Entertainment plans to launch a new Warcraft title on Mobile devices, and it’s possible that this could mean we’ll see some old faces from across Azeroth come back yet again!
While details are scarce, the confirmation is concreted as revealed by Activision. Blizzard is currently working on “substantial new content for the Warcraft franchise in 2022“, as indicated by Activision’s quarterly earnings report. Furthermore, “Blizzard is planning substantial new content for the Warcraft franchise in 2022, including new experiences in World of Warcraft and Hearthstone, and getting all-new mobile Warcraft content into players’ hands for the first time.“
But with over 25 years of history, it’s no wonder that the card-game, Hearthstone, has indulged the only mobile presence for this franchise. This free-to-play release came out on mobile devices at the end of 2014. The new Warcraft game would be the second project joining the bubble alongside the RPG Diablo Immortal, which is supposed to land in 2022, following a delay.
Nevertheless, seeing a promise for new and upcoming content by Blizzard is quite a relief since the company was slowly becoming absent from its most valuable genre. Alongside that, for the first time, Blizzard would set in a whole different universe by building a new survival game.
