After the Tencent buyout, Warframe will still remain “creatively independent”

Back in 2014, Hong Kong company, Leyou bought out the majority shares for Warframe from Digital Extremes, and now, Chinese megacorp Tencent has acquired Leyou. This means that Tencent will now be Digital Extremes’ parent company. However, according to the devs, they’ll still have creative freedom.

Digital Extremes said the following in a message to their players published on its website:

We will remain creatively independent, we expect no changes to Warframe or how our studio operates, and we will remain as dedicated ever to you, the community, who has been with us every step of the way since we launched Warframe

Tencent is one of the biggest megacorps in gaming and the world’s largest video game company in terms of revenue. They own shares with other huge companies like Riot Games, Supercell, and Epic Games. This news is very good for Warframe, as Tencent’s enormous budget could help the game grow a lot, even if it’s already successful.

Our focus will remain on listening to you, our community, upgrading Warframe based on your feedback, and developing the kind of great stories, gameplay, and incredible new space ninja action you’ve come to expect from us,

I've spent half of my life playing video games, ever since the competitive 1.6 era. Now I am happily married to Margarita Kicevski, and have two beautiful children. My goal is to deliver fresh news and updates, but most of the time I want to work on guides. Since I have rebooted this website, I am planning on making it huge. Just you wait!
