Even though first believed to be kept in secrecy, CD Projekt Red has somewhat confirmed the initial pre-order numbers of Cyberpunk 2077 in a recent statement. CD Projekt Red has discovered to its investors that Cyberpunk 2077 pre-orders have exceeded The Witcher 3 ones during a recent earnings call for the third quarter of 2020.
Going back to the period of The Witcher 3 and its pre-release era, the game had hit 1 million pre-orders before it came out to the store shelves. Fair enough, the number of pre-orders of Cyberpunk 2077 is mostly digital. The statement that Cyberpunk 2077 exceeded the pre-orders of The Witcher 3 solidifies the fact that Cyberpunk 2077 has sold over 1 million units so far.
CD Projekt Red’s CFO, Piotr Nielubowicz claimed the following:
The expected ratio between digital and physical on our sales, as we see it on preorders digital is very strong, so definitely we are more into moving potential split digital/physical, and more on the digital side.
Undoubtedly, Cyberpunk 2077 is the most anticipated game of 2020. Even though it’s still not released, nor can be claimed surely, Cyberpunk 2077 is estimated to break new records.
