Developed by Crystal Dynamics and published by Square Enix, Marvel’s Avengers has had a tough release. Marvel fans hyped up the game, especially, only for it to not even come close to their expectations. Video game analyst David Gibson analyzed the cost of making Marvel’s Avengers earlier this month. He tweeted that he believes that Marvel’s Avengers cost around $170 million to $190 million to develop.
Marvel Avengers- it looks like the total cost of the game is closer to $170m-$190m given they only expenses 70% of cost in the qtr plus marketing costs. Why someone didn’t say stop post the multiplayer beta will remain a mystery . Square are adamant they can make a recovery ….

However, in a recent financial report, Square Enix president Yosuke Matsude revealed that it lost about $67 million. Matsude also stated that he believes that the game’s release date was also one reason why it didn’t fulfill expectations. Another factor that he took to note was the working conditions around COVID-19.
In addition to the amortization of that game’s development costs. Another significant factor associated with the title was the fact that we undertook a major advertising campaign at the time of its launch to make up for delays in our marketing efforts resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic
Crystal Dynamics has been trying to fix their game for a while now, adding new updates and additional content, and we hope that they’ll be able to recoup their development costs sometime shortly.
