SMGs have been so annoying in Black Ops Cold War so far. Since the game was released, most of the time, you’d probably be a part of a match with more than 50% of the players using the MP5. The distance damage falloff doesn’t count in Black Ops Cold War as most of the multiplayer maps are small, embracing close combat encounters. Hence, the MP5 was pretty much the best choice for most players because it simply shreds the opposition to pieces.
This was an essential change. Players were getting frustrated due to the power of the MP5, for which Treyarch surely kept tabs. The Submachine Gun Alpha, which usually destroyed players and lobbies, is no longer as powerful as before. Not only in the live version of the game but also in the beta, the MP5 was way too powerful to make its debut the way it did on release. The balance should’ve been applied with the release of the game, rather than later.
However, I guess it’s better late than never. Now, we believe that the Milano will have a lot bigger swing in the SMG category of weapons, while the Assault Rifles will still be favorites and finally had a chance to compete against the SMG family.
The first post-launch balance update is live. We’re keeping this limited to the 1 gun we’ve gotten the most feedback on, as we continue working on the larger pass for Season 1. https://t.co/UC1heS3j6S
