DayZ will be available on next-gen consoles via Backward Compatibility Mode

Today, Bohemia Interactive just announced the arrival of DayZ, one of the most popular survival games on both the next-gen consoles. If Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 owners own a digital license of DayZ, will have the opportunity to download the game directly from their PlayStation Network or Xbox Live account, which means it will be available in both Xbox Series X/S and PS5 libraries.

This puts DayZ and DayZ Livonia together, as confirmed by Bohemia Interactive. However, it’s not a word about a free upgrade, instead, its accessibility will be possible thanks to the backward compatibility mode. For more info, check below:

  • The game will run on the new generation of consoles via backward compatibility mode
  • The same license is valid for both generations
  • Availability and price of DayZ won’t change
  • Game progress is linked to your Xbox Live and PlayStation Network accounts and will remain the same across both generations

The announcement has just arrived on DayZ’s official Twitter profile, followed by an official blog post regarding the transition.

I've spent half of my life playing video games, ever since the competitive 1.6 era. Now I am happily married to Margarita Kicevski, and have two beautiful children. My goal is to deliver fresh news and updates, but most of the time I want to work on guides. Since I have rebooted this website, I am planning on making it huge. Just you wait!

  1. These guys wont even fix the stuff we already have in the game for console and there adding more they need to figure there game out

    1. Hey Phillip, I believe that most of their developers are currently focused on the Enfusion engine which is supposed to power all their future video games. Hence, DayZ won’t get too much love until the Enfusion engine meets a perfect candidate.
