Ubisoft’s upcoming Watch Dogs Legion won’t be able to meet the exciting performance that everyone looks forward to. Instead, it will run at 30 FPS, even on the next-gen consoles PS5 and Xbox Series X. This was confirmed in a recent AMA on Reddit, in which Watch Dogs Legion’s live producer Lathieeshe was present.
The hosted AMA has discovered a lot of surprises, among which the performance-related question took place. Seems like Ubisoft won’t be able to grant a higher fps, especially when the performance discussion ended after that answer. There were multiple questions if Ray Tracing would increase the FPS at least to 60, but all those questions remained unanswered.
According to Lathieeshe, Watch Dogs Legion will run at 30 FPS on 4K Resolution on both PS5 and Xbox Series X.
Ray tracing, 4k, 30fps on PS5 and Xbox Series X.
Watch Dogs Legion will release on all platforms (PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Stadia) on October 29, 2020, while the next-gen releases are estimated for November 10 (Xbox Series X) and November 12 (PlayStation 5). Sadly, the fictionalized representation of future London will become available at a diminished performance cost.
But does that mean 30fps minimum (with variable refresh rate and potentially higher frame rates with future console hardware updates)
or does it mean a hard 30fps cap that can never be changed?
