The Mortal Kombat franchise is one of the world’s most iconic series of fighting games. Today, in a twitter post, NetherRealm’s CEO Ed Boon has revealed that their latest installment to the franchise, Mortal Kombat 11, has surpassed over 8 million copies in about a year and a half after it got released.
NetherRealm’s best-selling game is Mortal Kombat X, which got released back in 2015, with 11 million copies sold in about five years, and it looks like this one is going to surpass it.
After 8 million (and kounting) MK11 games sold we're not done yet. Stay tuned to see what's next for MK11 this week!#KombatKontinues

It looks like Ed Boon is teasing something big that will be revealed this week, and data miners have already started. A while back, data miners leaked a video showcasing voices that sound like the 1995 Mortal Kombat Movie cast. It seems as if a few combatants will get movie-inspired skins. NetherRealm has taken down the video from YouTube, which makes it more believable.
Another leak also mentions Harley Quinn, Smoke, Takeda, Michael Myers (from the Halloween films), Mileena, and Sektor as upcoming DLC characters. Perhaps they’ll be officially announced this week?!
The fact that they copyrighted the video proves how legit this leak is.
Harley, Smoke, Takeda, Michael, Mileena, Sektor. These are the 6 character that were chosen earlier this year. Everything is subject to change of course. pic.twitter.com/I4XAnbwvcX— thethiny 🐰🍉 (@thethiny) September 22, 2020
