Even though there was no room for fear of Xbox console discontinuance, Phil Spencer has assured the Xbox console fans that it will continue its production in the future. Phil Spencer has given this statement in an interview with Yahoo Finance, where he ensures a bountiful lot for the Xbox consoles.
In terms of future hardware, absolutely I think we’re going to see more console hardware down the road. Just like in video, just like in music it’s not that streaming has cut off device innovation. I think we’ll continue to see that and that’s absolutely what we’re planning for.
The global pandemic might have been an obstacle for the development process, but Microsoft stays strong on future projects, developments, and accessories for the current-gen console. The pandemic is also a reason why people are leaning more towards digital purchases than physical ones.
Microsoft is planning to continue on their journey and allow publishers to better access and deliver their video game titles to the Xbox Consoles. Digital is the way to go, especially during this uncertain time caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, as physical sales might be out for years.
