Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s free New Game+ update went live on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One on Nov. 5. The patch gives players a fresh campaign run and adds new ways to keep building Eivor’s endgame character.
New Game+ unlocks after completing the Holy Day Quest. Each time players begin another run, the game scales up the difficulty. Lead Game Designer David Larouche said in an Xbox Wire interview that the team returned to the feature because players continued to ask for it, and that it lets them revisit the adventure with an endgame character.
Extended Progression Mode counts gear upgrades, runes and masteries toward overall power while it is active. Gear can now reach level 27, up from 13, and the expanded progression, divine gear upgrades and rune additions can all be used without starting New Game+.
Mithril is a new resource for upgrading divine gear. During New Game+, players can earn it when they receive gear or interact with a Book of Knowledge they already own. Mithril is also available in Nilfheim and the Mastery and River Raid shops. Wealth chests that would normally contain Carbon, Nickel or Tungsten instead award Platinum in New Game+.
Ravensthorpe now has a stash for storing any gear piece or rune from the player’s inventory. The Rune Forge can upgrade runes for silver through its menu, including to the new Superior tier. It first appeared as a Ravensthorpe settlement building in Title Update 1.6.1. The latest update adds more than 300 engravable runes, and Larouche said the forge now covers essentially every perk previously attached to an item, including perks from expansions and Store gear.
