Phasmophobia’s Resonance update will arrive in late November 2026, combining the Content Update and the move to Unity 6 rather than releasing them separately. Kinetic Games outlined the changes in Development Preview #22, which also places Phasmophobia 1.0 in late 2027.
Resonance will add Dowsing Rods and changes to the Sound Sensor. Its map will distinguish a looping sound from a single ping, and will only identify sounds on the same floor. During a Hunt, players will also be able to use the sensor map’s movement-speed information to help identify the Ghost.
Ghosts will respond to new Voice Recognition commands, including prompts to interact with nearby doors and switches, throw objects, or show their presence. The commands will also work in Text mode. VR players using Text mode can access them through the Sanity watch, and a new Journal page will show the usable phrases.

Contract selection is getting a small quality-of-life change too. Players will be able to build a random map pool from any number of locations, choose small, medium, or large maps with new buttons, or use the dice for the existing random-map selection.

Unity 6 brings performance work and new settings
Kinetic Games says the engine transition is focused on stability, performance, and fixing bugs, including common crashes and memory leaks. The studio expects improvements across CPU, GPU, VRAM, and RAM use, but says the results will only be clear once players have the update. It also plans to monitor feedback after release and directs players to its Help Centre to submit bugs.
The update will bring lighting improvements alongside graphics and overall-quality presets, an extreme shadow-quality option, and Eye Adaptation for VR players. New color-vision settings include Protanopia, Protanomaly, Deuteranopia, Deuteranomaly, Tritanopia, Tritanomaly, Achromatopsia, and Achromatomaly.
Warnings, Xbox Play Anywhere, and more work ahead
A new in-game warning system will give players who violate the Code of Conduct a warning instead of an immediate ban, except when the violation is severe enough to warrant a ban. Players will also be told when a report they submitted leads to action against another player.
Resonance will add Phasmophobia to Xbox Play Anywhere. Players who own the game on Xbox will be able to play it on supported devices, including PCs, laptops, ROG Ally, and Xbox Series X/S. The Xbox Play Anywhere program covers the cross-device feature.
The Player Character Visual Update will not be part of Resonance. Kinetic Games says it needs more time on the work, which includes more than 30 cosmetics with color and texture variants, plus changes to the Customisation Shop and character models. The preview did not give that update a new release window.
42 Edgefield Road is next in line for a rework, planned for later in 2026. The studio has not shared details about the redesign yet. The late-2027 target for Phasmophobia 1.0 is later than the 2026 window previously outlined for the full release.
