PUBG Broadens Console Anti-Cheat to Target Lag Switches and Single-Fire Tools

PUBG reports a 44.6% increase in console enforcement actions, comparing all of 2025 with January through September 2026.

PUBG is widening console anti-cheat enforcement to cover lag-switch abuse and tools that let players fire at a physically impossible rate, while improving detection for stat boosting and attempts to disguise keyboard inputs. In its latest console anti-cheat update, the team says total enforcement actions rose 44.6% in a comparison of full-year 2025 with January through September 2026.

Those figures compare different spans, not matching nine-month periods. In the same comparison, actions against keyboard-and-mouse users rose 212.7%, while actions for other cheating rose 42.9%. The latter figure excludes team-killing sanctions.

More cheating types face console enforcement

PUBG says its console enforcement last year focused on team-killing and unauthorized input devices such as keyboards and mice. This year, the team has also expanded its response to stat abuse, network latency abuse from lag switches, and single-fire assist tools that allow firing faster than a person can physically manage.

Stricter penalties for unauthorized input-device use, including permanent bans, have applied since June 29. PUBG says it has also applied penalties retroactively to device use from before its detection system was strengthened. The policy builds on PUBG’s console permanent-ban policy.

Stat-abuse detection reached consoles in December 2025 after previously being limited to PC. The system targets players who intentionally let themselves be killed to inflate another player’s stats. In October, PUBG improved its detection model to catch cases involving players who land far apart or switch between accounts to evade enforcement.

Bans for lag-switch abuse began in September after PUBG refined its detection and assessment criteria. The team said it would begin issuing bans for single-fire assist tools in October, after identifying players who used them.

More input checks are planned

PUBG says it has detected attempts to disguise keyboard input as a controller’s analog signals, along with key-mapping features provided by unauthorized devices or programs. The team plans to improve its analysis of abnormal input patterns and strengthen detection of unauthorized assist devices, including input converters, to respond to new ways of evading detection.
