The update describes the re-release as bringing Shenmue 3 to several modern consoles for the first time. Its accompanying artwork depicts versions for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Optional changes keep the original experience available
The enhanced edition pairs sharper graphics, faster loading, and smoother gameplay with a 4K texture upgrade and DLSS/FSR upscaling. Niaowu is also planned to have more NPCs on its streets.
Players can choose a camera inspired by Shenmue I and Shenmue II or keep the modern view. Other planned gameplay options include stamina adjustments, restoring health before fights, and reducing money barriers.
Cutscene and conversation skips, a wider QTE timing window, revised menus, and purchase alerts are also planned. Major changes can be toggled, giving players the option to keep the experience closer to the original game.
