A 2-Minute Mass Effect Universe Trailer Has Surfaced Online
The unverified, gameplay-free video depicts an older Liara, an apparent ex-military human lead, and a turian.

A two-minute cinematic video titled Mass Effect Universe has surfaced online, a day after BioWare announced its closure and the end of early development on the next Mass Effect. The clip contains no gameplay, and its title does not confirm a final game name or establish that BioWare produced or approved it.

Before the video appeared, a Reddit commenter who described themself as an EA employee said they had seen a trailer a few months earlier and questioned how the project could still be considered in early development. The commenter also estimated that about 50 developers were on the Mass Effect team. Neither the employment claim nor the headcount is verified in the supplied material. Several hours later, the video appeared as a reply to a post sharing the comment. The original Reddit comment is the basis for both claims.
The purported footage depicts a visibly older Liara T’Soni alongside what appears to be a new human lead described as ex-military, rather than longtime protagonist Commander Shepard. A turian appears around the 1:31 mark, the same species as Garrus Vakarian. The video ends with a “Coming soon” card but provides no specific release date.
BioWare said early development on the next Mass Effect was ending. Even if the video were authentic, a cinematic clip cannot establish how the game would have played or what its finished presentation would have looked like.
