War Thunder Plans Login Streak Protection in Its Next Major Update

The plans also cover new vehicles, weapons, cockpit work and seasonal events running into January 2027.

War Thunder’s next major update is planned to add a safeguard for players’ login streaks. Gaijin outlined the feature in its Community Update No. 13 on Steam, which also previews new vehicles, weapons, map work and events. The developer cautions that work-in-progress plans can change, be delayed or be cancelled.

Players will earn one Freeze for every 12 days of logging in, up to a maximum of 30 per account. If a player misses a login, the game will automatically use stored Freezes to preserve the streak. The feature will be available to everyone by default. Gaijin’s example has six months of daily logins earning 15 Freezes, which can then protect a streak during a two-week vacation.

The returning Student Pilot decal is available with the code STUDENTPILOT through October 30 at 10:00 GMT. Redeem it on Gaijin’s activation page, then find the decal under Decals > Special > Other.

New vehicles and cockpit work are planned

China is due to receive the ZBD04 IFV, while France’s anti-aircraft line will gain the Dutch Cheetah PRTL. Japan is also slated to get a Thai Firefly Mk 1 and an Indonesian Avia B-33, adding more ground-attack options. The French SE.203 Aquilon 203, introduced in the previous major update, is planned to receive a fully updated cockpit.

Gaijin also plans visual upgrades for the Sun City and American Desert ground maps.

New weapons cover Nuclear Escalation and air combat

Japan’s GCS-1 will be a self-guided bomb that can lock onto large heat-emitting targets, including ships. It falls freely after release, then searches for and locks onto a target with its infrared seeker. Nuclear Escalation is also due to receive the British WE177A, a free-fall nuclear bomb carried by the Tornado GR.1. Game Director BVV_d has also addressed Nuclear Escalation and the bomber damage model.

Cluster bombs are another planned addition, aimed at groups of armored vehicles and intended mainly for Air Battles, particularly Nuclear Escalation. They will not be available in standard Ground Battles. The Mosquito fighter-bomber series is also due to get wing-mounted racks for 250 lb and 500 lb bombs, while the British Martlet Mk IV will receive RP-3 rocket racks.

Man-in-the-Loop guidance is planned for helicopters in the next major update. SPIKE NLOS will provide the feature for AH-64E Apache variants in the United States, Britain, Japan, France and China, as well as the AH-64D-I Seraph. The EC-665 Tiger HAD Block 2, AH-129D, H145M and Israeli AH-60 are slated to use SPIKE ER. Gaijin is considering raising the Battle Ratings of helicopters that receive the feature. It also plans to let players adjust a weapon’s aim point while it is in flight, for both helicopter and aircraft weapons.

The Wildcat HMA.2’s Sea Venom anti-ship missile is planned for a future major update, though Gaijin has not confirmed it for the next one. The Wildcat will be able to carry four Sea Venoms in place of Martlet and SPIKE missiles. The missile can also strike ground targets, and its infrared seeker differs from the TV seeker on the AJ.168 Martel. Its datalink will support Man-in-the-Loop guidance.

Aster-30 missiles are also planned to receive the PIF-PAF steering system in a future update this year. Side-facing thrusters will provide extra lateral acceleration one second before impact, helping the missile correct its path against fast targets, including ballistic and anti-radiation missiles.

War Thunder’s event plans run through the end of 2026

The next Battle Pass begins October 21, 2026, with two German World War II premium vehicles: a tank destroyer and a coastal boat. Gaijin plans to share their details before the start. At the end of October, the Dreams Come True event is due to return with one vehicle reward for War Thunder’s birthday, alongside the annual birthday discounts.

Birthday celebrations will continue into November. A separate event that ran last year is planned for mid-November, and a naval event featuring a U.S. coastal vessel is due to start after Dreams Come True ends.

In early December, a vehicle event will feature a Chinese mid-tier tank. The Silver Lion trophy is planned to return in mid-December, followed by a winter vehicle event with four vehicle rewards. That event will continue into January 2027. Gaijin notes that events may move or be postponed, and that other events could still be added.
