The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening now has an unofficial native PC port, bringing ultrawide display options and a built-in randomizer to the 2019 Nintendo Switch game. Created by peiikai, LASRecomp runs as an app for Windows, macOS, and Linux rather than through emulation.
Players can widen the view beyond the original 16:9 framing or switch back to it at any time. The port also lets them adjust internal resolution or use dynamic resolution. Keyboard keys and controller buttons are fully remappable, and Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo controllers get matching button prompts. The in-game menu opens with F1 on keyboard or Minus + Plus on a controller.
The randomizer can rearrange items, keys, shops, trade quests, music, enemies, and dungeon doors. Pots, bushes, and dig spots can also become checks. Each seed gets its own save file, and players can create seeds in-game and share their IDs.
A Dungeon Room Shuffler can mix up dungeon layouts in Coherent, Chaos, or Madness mode. Randomized items can include the Rooster, Marin, and the Ghost, while some bosses and mini-bosses may require special souls before Link can fight them. A special bottle can warp Link to key locations, and map tracking can mark unchecked pots and bushes.
LASRecomp is in beta, so players may encounter crashes and graphical glitches, and some randomizer seeds may be impossible to solve. Dungeon room shuffling is especially experimental. The project does not include game files and requires a legally dumped version 1.0.0 copy of the Switch game, in XCI or NSP format, plus prod.keys from the user’s own Switch. The LASRecomp GitHub repository has the port.
