Magic: The Gathering Will Add God Packs in 2027, but End Foil Guarantees
God Packs will debut with January 2027's Nauctis: The Sunken Realm, with odds of 1 in 1,000 Booster Packs and 1 in 300 Collector Boosters.
Magic: The Gathering will add God Packs to its booster rotation in January 2027, giving players a slim chance to open packs filled with rare and mythic rare cards. The change comes alongside a cut to regular pack contents: Booster Packs will no longer guarantee a foil, while Collector Boosters will lose three cards without replacing them with rares.
God Packs will debut in Nauctis: The Sunken Realm, an underwater-themed set scheduled for January 2027, according to Wizards of the Coast’s 2027 booster update. The odds are 1 in 1,000 Booster Packs and 1 in 300 Collector Boosters. Every Magic Multiverse set will have a chance at one of these rare packs. A celebration card will appear first to let players know they’ve opened one.
A Booster God Pack will contain a celebration card, 10 non-foil rare and/or mythic rare cards, 2 non-foil Booster Fun rare and/or mythic rare cards, and 2 traditional foil Booster Fun rare and/or mythic rare cards.
The Collector version will include a celebration card and a foil land, along with 3 foil default-frame rare and/or mythic rare cards, 3 non-foil Booster Fun rare and/or mythic rare cards, and 5 foil Booster Fun rare and/or mythic rare cards.
Japan Showcase cards, known for their distinct artwork, will also appear in Booster Packs as traditional foils. They were previously exclusive to Collector Boosters, giving standard-pack buyers a chance to pull them, too. Rare and Mythic card drop rates will also increase, though Wizards has not specified the revised rates.
Foil common and uncommon cards will be removed from Booster Packs, and a foil will no longer be guaranteed. Collector Boosters will lose two commons and one uncommon from their foil slots, with no rare cards added in their place. Prices will remain unchanged, even as Collector Boosters get smaller.
