Akio Otsuka Wants Another Metal Gear, but His Return Without Kojima Is Unclear
Otsuka wants Konami to continue the series, though his latest comments do not confirm whether he would reprise Snake without Kojima.

Akio Otsuka wants Konami to make another Metal Gear for fans around the world, even if Hideo Kojima is not involved. In a Bunshun interview, Otsuka said fans have waited patiently and called for “one more Metal Gear.” He previously said he would not return to a Kojima-less entry, explaining that position as pride in having worked with the series’ creator. His latest comments support continuing the franchise, but do not confirm whether he would reprise Snake.
Otsuka voiced Solid Snake, Naked Snake, Solidus Snake, and Venom Snake. His father, Chikao Otsuka, voiced Big Boss in Metal Gear Solid 4. Otsuka also voiced Die-Hardman in the Japanese dub of Death Stranding, continuing his collaboration with Kojima after the director left Konami.
Otsuka praised Kojima’s path from founding Kojima Productions to completing Death Stranding with Sony’s help. He said he could imagine Kojima worrying about the financial consequences if the game failed, and recalled that its release announcement moved him to tears. Asked whether he had spoken with Kojima about collaborating again, Otsuka laughed and said, “I’ll leave that to your imagination.”
Konami has already included Metal Gear among its long-term reboot plans, although president Hideki Hayakawa did not identify a specific project. Otsuka’s comments add his support for continuing the series while Kojima pursues his own games, including Death Stranding.
