System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster and Buried Stars are free on the Epic Games Store now. The offer opened October 1 at 8 a.m. PT / 11 a.m. ET / 4 p.m. BST / 5 p.m. CEST and runs through October 8 at those same times. Claiming either game before the cutoff adds it to your library.
Buried Stars turns a television game show into a locked-in murder mystery. After the studio collapses, its contestants are trapped inside, and they must work together to find a way out. There’s also a killer among them, so the group’s survival depends on figuring out who they can trust.
The other offer brings back a classic sci-fi horror story. In System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster, players search a seemingly deserted spaceship, where a murderous AI and other dangers stand between them and answers. Its three paths, O.S.A., Marines, and Navy, give players different ways to approach the journey.
The remaster updates the characters, weapons, animations, cutscenes, and visuals while keeping the original horror RPG intact. On PC, it supports up to 144 FPS and ultrawide screens, along with adjustable field of view, post-processing options, improved controller support, and other quality-of-life changes.
Players can also team up in cross-play co-op for up to four people aboard the Von Braun. PC players get full mod support for community-made mods and missions, plus 50 achievements to unlock.
Epic’s next giveaway rotation is scheduled to bring Out of Sight and TerraScape to the free-games lineup from October 8 through October 15, 2026. Out of Sight follows Sophie, a blind girl trying to escape a haunted mansion in a horror puzzle adventure. TerraScape takes a quieter approach, asking players to build a medieval kingdom across floating islands by choosing where to place buildings.
Both current games can be claimed through the Epic Games Store’s free-games page. Claiming them before the October 8 cutoff adds them to your library.
Which of these four games would you most like to claim, from the trapped contestants and haunted spaceship to Sophie’s escape or TerraScape’s floating kingdoms?
