PUBG Studios has decided to end development on PUBG: Black Budget, saying the project’s current direction would not deliver an experience players could enjoy over the long term. The studio announced the decision in an Oct. 1 development update on Steam.

PUBG STUDIOS said it reached the decision after reviewing the project’s development status and future direction. It did not point to a particular feature or test result. Instead, the update described a broader concern that the game, as it stood, would not offer the kind of long-term experience the team wanted to deliver.

The studio thanked players who joined its Closed Alpha tests and shared feedback. The second closed alpha opened to invited Steam testers on June 26 and ran through June 29 at 17:00 UTC+9.

PUBG STUDIOS said it will carry lessons from development and testing into future projects, while continuing to listen to players as it explores new gameplay experiences.
