Dune: Awakening’s El Sayldam Challenge Will Target 80 Million NPC Kills
The shared event will unlock 8 CHOAM building pieces across four milestones before it ends on October 5.

Dune: Awakening players will share one enormous target during El Sayldam: The Rain of Blood, a global community challenge built around defeating 80 million NPCs across Arrakis. Every qualifying kill will add to the same total, with cumulative rewards unlocking as the community reaches each threshold. Funcom had scheduled the challenge alongside the September 22 Filmic Archive DLC and console launch, with the combat event following that broader September rollout.
Funcom outlined the event in a Steam announcement. The opening description gives September 25 through October 5 as the event window, although a later timing section says the challenge begins on September 26 and runs for 10 days. Progress updates and completed milestones will appear on the official challenge webpage.
Four kill thresholds unlock CHOAM construction pieces
The rewards focus on CHOAM building parts, giving players new ways to expand their bases as the global total climbs. The milestones are cumulative, so the community keeps building toward the final reward tier rather than choosing between separate objectives.
- 20 million NPC kills: CHOAM Extension Floor and CHOAM Extension Roof
- 40 million NPC kills: CHOAM Extension Wall 01 and CHOAM Extension Wall 02
- 60 million NPC kills: CHOAM Extension Passageway and CHOAM Extension Wall 03
- 80 million NPC kills: CHOAM Extension Column and CHOAM Extension Wall Round Corner

Because the total counts NPC defeats across the entire community, a player’s contribution does not need to be large to help the event move forward. Newly awakened characters and experienced survivors both contribute to the same pool whenever they defeat enemies during the challenge.
El Sayldam follows another community-focused Dune: Awakening event that asked viewers to support rival Houses through Twitch activity. This time, the progress comes directly from combat across Arrakis, with the final target requiring 80 million combined NPC kills before the event window closes.
