Enshrouded’s 1.0 Combat Changes Will Give Mages Summons and New Wand Attacks

Keen Games will also add 22 Eternal spell versions, three Eternal arrows, more enemy variants, and a level 50 player cap ahead of the October 15 launch.

Enshrouded will give its magic and ranged combat systems a wide set of new tools when 1.0 launches on October 15, 2026. Keen Games is putting mages at the center of the update with nine new spells, summonable totems and a skeleton, wand heavy attacks, new archer skills, and a higher level cap, as outlined in the Steam announcement.

The combat preview expands on the studio’s earlier 1.0 plans, which also cover performance work and improvements to systems already in the game. This time, the focus is on giving each ranged style more ways to handle groups, stronger enemies, and longer journeys through Embervale.

Mages will receive 9 new spells

The new mage spells cover damage, crowd control, utility, and summons. The additions are:

  • Mana Drain
  • Entangle
  • Pillar of Flames
  • Blizzard
  • Ball Lightning
  • Summon Fire Totem
  • Summon Ice Totem
  • Summon Shock Totem
  • Summon Hollow Skeleton

Entangle will help hold tougher enemies in place, while Blizzard and Ball Lightning will give mages new area-of-effect options. Mana Drain will take a fixed amount of mana from an enemy each second and add it to the player’s pool. The summon spells introduce a new category, with two new skills increasing the number of skeletons and totems that can be active.

Existing spells will also receive more versions, allowing players to keep familiar spell combinations as they progress through Embervale. The update will add 22 tier 7 Eternal spell versions. These spells do not consume ammunition, and they can be upgraded with new perks such as reduced mana costs. Mana costs and casting times will also be adjusted around each spell’s damage and usefulness.

Wands will gain heavy attacks and aerial skills

Wands will receive a heavy attack that pierces through enemies instead of stopping at the first target. It will also interrupt attacks from weaker enemies, giving wand users a way to create space when several foes close in.

Two new wand skills will add more movement to the weapon. Aerial Wand Attack can be used in mid-air and deals area damage, while Wand Evasion Attack fires wider projectiles that pierce enemies. Wand targeting will also be adjusted for soft lock and hard lock, with separate behavior for ranged and melee weapons. The system will give more weight to the center of the screen and enemies that are closer to the player.

Keen Games is also fixing several issues that occur when switching between wands and staffs during combat. Wands will be able to target explosive barrels as well, which should make environmental chaos a little easier to arrange.

New skills support mage and archer builds

Mages will gain five skills tied to the new combat options:

  • Aerial Wand Attack
  • Wand Evasion Attack
  • Advanced Necromancy, which allows more skeletons
  • Totem Mastery, which allows more totems
  • Blast and Cast, which increases the base damage of the next staff attack by 50% for 10 seconds after a wand critical strike

Blast and Cast is designed around switching between wands and staffs rather than staying with one weapon type for an entire fight.

Archers will receive three skills of their own. Puncture will increase ranged piercing damage, Barrage can restore one point of durability to a bow when dealing damage, and Survival Instinct will restore Shroud time after defeating a Shroud-infested enemy with a bow or dagger. New aim assist options will also be available in the settings. Aim assist will be enabled by default for controllers and disabled by default for mouse and keyboard.

Eternal arrows and tougher encounters are coming

All Eternal arrows will become upgradeable and can receive perks. Three new types will join them: Eternal Fire arrow, Eternal Shock arrow, and Eternal Bone arrow.

Combat will also face more enemy variety. Every faction, including the Fell and Scavengers, will receive new variants, with some appearing as heavy or elite enemies. The player level cap will rise to 50, while equipment will reach level 55 alongside the new enemy tier.

Player movement will receive animation and responsiveness fixes intended to make combat feel more natural without taking away its agility. The skill tree will also be reset for 1.0 because of the new skills and changes to skill placement, so players will need to spend their points before heading out from their base.
