DayZ Update 1.30 is now entering the Experimental phase on Steam, bringing more than 150 reworked inventory icons alongside motorbike physics, revised infected attacks, returning firearm color variants, and animation changes that could affect mods.
Bohemia Interactive outlined the build in its Steam announcement. The Experimental release also begins the rollout of DayZ Badlands, although some expansion assets will remain hidden until launch. Players can find the complete 1.30 changelog on the official forums.
DayZ’s inventory icons get a full visual pass
More than 150 inventory icons have been updated to make items easier to recognize at a glance. The new set uses a shared viewing angle, consistent outline weight, and stronger contrast against inventory slots.
The goal is also to fix visual inconsistencies where the same item could look different from one icon to another. Firewood is one example mentioned by the studio. The revised interface keeps the familiar item designs while giving the inventory a more unified appearance.

Motorbikes bring new physics to Experimental
The Jana moped and Enduro are also part of the test. The moped comes in blue, red, and yellow, while the Enduro has four base colors with swappable plates that can be mixed and matched.
Both bikes use a new two-wheeled simulation with rider leaning and crash ragdolls. A rider who crashes will fall unconscious from their own perspective, while other clients will see the character in the same position. Special “Many Motorbikes” servers will give players a dedicated place to test the vehicles and report problems through Bohemia Interactive’s Feedback Tracker.
Animation-related mods may also need adjustments because of the broader animation system work included in 1.30.
Infected attacks now account for player height
Infected attacks have been updated to better match the target’s position. Depending on the height of the player’s head, an infected can use an upward, centered, or downward attack. The changes apply when players are standing, crouching, or prone, as well as when fights happen on stairs, slopes, and other uneven ground.
Infected can also perform a new running heavy attack, adding another animation to close-range encounters without changing the basic survival routine of keeping your distance whenever possible.
Select firearm colors return
Some firearm color variants from DayZ’s alpha period are returning with updated visuals and textures. Only select weapons will receive the variants in Experimental, and Bohemia Interactive is leaving players to discover them during testing.
Lurkit Creator Program returns for Badlands
Bohemia Interactive is partnering with Lurkit again for the DayZ Badlands Creator Program. The program will give DayZ creators, press, and other content creators an early look at Nasdara. Exact dates have not been announced, but the program will last approximately one week, shorter than the two-week program used for DayZ Frostline.
DayZ Badlands remains scheduled for an October 15, 2026 launch. Until then, the Experimental branch gives players a chance to put the bikes, inventory changes, and new animation work through their paces.
