VALORANT will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in Australia and New Zealand on September 23. The Sydney server will open for console players at 10:00 a.m. AEST, giving the region its local server access when the release begins, according to Riot’s official VALORANT announcement.
Riot will spend the week before launch completing final testing. The local console server will go offline at 12:00 a.m. AEST on Thursday, September 17, and will remain unavailable until the September 23 launch time. VALORANT may appear in local console stores during that period, but players will not be able to connect to the server. PC players will not be affected.
VALORANT launch times across Australia and New Zealand
- New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, and Tasmania: 10:00 a.m. AEST
- South Australia and the Northern Territory: 9:30 a.m. ACST
- Western Australia: 8:00 a.m. AWST
- New Zealand mainland: 12:00 p.m. NZST
- Chatham Islands: 12:45 p.m. CHAST
Console cross-play and shared progression
PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S players will be able to play together, but console matchmaking will remain separate from PC. Riot said the split is intended to protect competitive integrity and keep the experience consistent across each control setup.
Progression will be shared between console and PC through the same account. Battlepass progress, recruited Agents, purchased skins, and other earned or purchased content will carry over instead of resetting when the console version launches.
VALORANT will also remain free to play on console without a PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass subscription. Subscribers can receive the usual platform benefits, but neither subscription is required to access the game.
