The Baltic Powers is now available for Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition on Steam and the Microsoft Store, bringing two new European civilizations, two game modes, 25+ maps, and a free update to the real-time strategy game. The Age of Empires team confirmed the September 10 launch in its official announcement.
The DLC had been scheduled for a September 10 release in earlier launch coverage, and that date has now arrived. The free update launched alongside the expansion, with the developer describing it as the largest game update in the history of Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition.

The Danes and Poles take different routes to power
The Danes build their economy around the Customs House, which generates revenue from shipments sent by other players. Round Churches and Snaphaner Militias help protect that income, while lower-cost advancement and royal guard regiments give the civilization a defensive and mercantile identity.
The Poles take a more expansive approach. Their Folwarks support the food economy behind a large army of horsemen, while the Sejm parliament becomes more powerful as the population grows. Players can also call on Cossacks, Teutonic Knights, and the famous Winged Hussars.
Regicide and Independence change the rules
Regicide gives every player a Regent to protect. Losing that unit means elimination, turning the Regent into a direct battlefield objective instead of a leader who can simply remain hidden behind defensive structures.
Independence removes Home City support and the usual XP system. Players will instead rely on their civilization’s core economy and military tools, creating a different starting point for every faction in the game.
Two new Challenge Scenarios join the expansion’s lineup, while more than 25 Random and Historical Maps extend the action from the Northwest Passage to an Icelandic volcano and the struggle over Livonia. The new content also adds 40+ units and more than 50 hero customizations.
New allies and mercenaries join the fight
The Baltic Powers introduces the Scottish House of Stuart, the Scandinavian Sámi, and the Arctic Inuit as new Native Allies. Players will also encounter Outlaws such as Harpooners and Whaling Ships, along with mercenaries including the Gallowglass, Cranequinier, and Fortified Wagon.
With the Danes and Poles now available, The Baltic Powers gives Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition a new northern European setting and several ways to change the usual match flow. Share your thoughts in the comments, and follow us on X, Bluesky, YouTube, Instagram, Steam, and Telegram.
