AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 XT now holds the highest share among Radeon graphics cards in Valve’s August Steam Hardware Survey, reaching 1.46% of participating systems. It sits above the RX 9070 and the other AMD entries represented in the table, while also moving ahead of the GeForce RTX 3080.
Valve’s August survey results place the RX 9070 XT 24th overall. Its share rose by 0.06 percentage points from July’s 1.40%, following 1.35% in June. The August figure puts it ahead of the Radeon RX 6600 at 0.83% and the Radeon RX 9060 XT at 0.80%, as well as the RTX 3080 at 1.38%. It also came within 0.01 percentage points of the GTX 1660 SUPER.

NVIDIA still controls the upper end of the survey
NVIDIA hardware remains far more common in the same table. The GeForce RTX 3060 leads at 3.92%, followed by the RTX 4060 Laptop GPU at 3.84% and the RTX 5070 at 3.77%. Even with its position among Radeon cards, the RX 9070 XT still has considerable ground to cover before AMD approaches NVIDIA’s broader presence.
Because Steam’s figures describe participating PCs in the survey rather than every computer running the client, they should not be treated as sales numbers or a complete count of installed hardware. The result still gives AMD a clearer lead within its current lineup, although it cannot explain why those participants chose their cards.
Valve’s corrected listing clarifies the XT’s share
Earlier Steam data grouped the Radeon RX 9070, RX 9070 XT, and RX 9060 together. Valve has since corrected that listing, giving the August entry a cleaner view of the RX 9070 XT’s individual share instead of folding it into a combined Radeon figure.
Price may still limit faster growth, but the survey does not identify purchase reasons, so it cannot establish cost as the cause of the card’s current position. Within this sample, the RX 9070 XT has a clear lead over the other Radeon models shown, while older GeForce cards remain much more widespread.
