CD Projekt Red has not revealed when The Witcher 3 Remastered will receive a physical edition on Switch 2, but the possibility remains open. During a Gamescom 2026 presentation, the studio gave a short answer to a question about a boxed release, saying, “The news will come when the time is right.”
That response provides no date or further information about the physical version. It does, however, leave the door open instead of ruling out a retail release altogether.
The Switch 2 version of The Witcher 3 Remastered is scheduled for September 29. CD Projekt Red has not said whether a physical edition would be available on that date, so players interested in owning a boxed copy will have to wait for another announcement.
The situation follows the studio’s decision to avoid game-key cards for Cyberpunk 2077. That choice makes the question of how a large, older RPG will be sold on Nintendo’s newer hardware even more relevant, although CD Projekt Red has not shared enough information to confirm what form a physical edition might take.
More than a decade after the original game’s release, CD Projekt Red is still finding ways to keep Geralt’s adventure in the spotlight. The company also has Songs of the Past, a new expansion planned for 2027, in development. For now, September 29 remains the only firm date attached to the Switch 2 remaster.
