Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.71 is scheduled to become available for free on PS5 at 11:00 p.m. PDT on August 19. The PlayStation Blog guide for the update confirms four new cars, three new World Circuits, and Whistler as a featured Scapes Curation.
The release time will be August 20 at 7:00 a.m. BST and 3:00 p.m. JST in the time zones named by PlayStation. An internet connection is required to download the update, and Credits will be needed to purchase the new vehicles.
Each car has its own role, from tuner-culture style to lightweight precision and next-generation performance. Here is where each one fits, along with a good way to get started.
Four new cars in GT7 Update 1.71
’97 Toyota Chaser Tourer V — Street Icon
Availability: Used Cars
The ’97 Toyota Chaser Tourer V brings the kind of tuner and drifting heritage that gives a car instant attitude. Its stance makes it easy to personalize, whether the goal is a clean street build or something more customized.
Try this first: Take the Chaser to Tokyo Expressway for a clean lap. After that, add a livery in GT Auto, visit the Tuning Shop, and start building the car around the desired style. A replay or Scapes photo can finish the showcase.
’97 Toyota Mark II Tourer V — Sleeper Pick
Availability: Used Cars
The ’97 Toyota Mark II Tourer V is the quieter choice of the two Toyota additions. It does not need to shout for attention, rewarding drivers who care more about how a car feels and performs than how much attention it gets.
Try this first: Drive it on Tokyo Expressway or another urban track, then compare it with road cars from a similar era. Testing different setups should make it easier to find a balance that suits the way each player drives.
’08 Caterham Seven Superlight R500 — Pure Driver
Availability: Brand Central
The ’08 Caterham Seven Superlight R500 strips the driving experience down to the essentials. Its low weight and quick responses put every steering, braking, and throttle input front and center. Raw power is not the point here; precision is.
Try this first: Start a Time Trial at Deep Forest Raceway and focus on repeating clean laps. Once consistency improves, work on braking points, cornering, and racing lines to find small gains around the circuit.
’25 Hyundai IONIQ 6 N — Next Gen Performance
Availability: Brand Central
The ’25 Hyundai IONIQ 6 N gives Update 1.71 its forward-looking performance car. It offers a different feel from the classic Toyota models and the lightweight Caterham, with a responsive drive aimed at players who want to test a newer kind of speed.
Try this first: Take it to High-Speed Ring, then run a custom race against other performance cars. Comparing its pace across several tracks will help show where its strengths fit best.
Three World Circuits and a new Scapes setting
Beyond the cars, Update 1.71 will introduce three new World Circuits. The announcement does not name the circuits, but the additions will give players more places to test the four vehicles.
Whistler will also become a featured Curation in Scapes, adding a new setting for players who like turning race replays into polished automotive photos. The Chaser, Mark II, Caterham, and IONIQ 6 N each offer a different subject for those shots, from classic street style to open-air track driving.
Players who want to choose quickly can start with the Chaser for customization, the Mark II for a lower-key road-car build, the Caterham for lap-time practice, or the IONIQ 6 N for a newer performance feel. Update 1.71 is scheduled to go live at the listed times on August 19 and August 20, depending on region.
