Rasmus ‘Caps’ Winther will become the first Western player inducted into the League of Legends Hall of Legends when Riot hosts his trophy ceremony in Berlin on August 18, 2026. He will join Faker and Uzi as the third player to receive the honor.
The ceremony recognizes a career that has made Caps one of Europe’s most accomplished League of Legends players. He holds the record for 17 LEC and EU LCS titles, ahead of BrokenBlade and Mikyx, who have 11 each. His individual résumé also includes 17 LEC All-Pro appearances and four LEC MVP awards. His time in the TCL brings his total to 18 domestic championships, an outright record across all regions.
Caps’ European record is only part of his case
Caps has also collected seven LEC final MVP awards, with his most recent coming in March against Karmine Corp. His international résumé includes the 2019 Mid-Season Invitational, where he helped defeat SK Telecom T1 before G2 Esports swept Team Liquid. Caps was also named the tournament’s MVP.
He reached consecutive Worlds finals with two different organizations, playing for Fnatic in 2018 and G2 in 2019. That made him the first player to reach the World Championship final with two separate organizations. G2’s 2019 run ended with a loss to FunPlus Phoenix. Caps also crossed 200 international matches at Worlds 2025, a mark reached by only one other player: Faker.
Riot’s Global Head of LoL Esports, Chris Greeley, praised Caps in comments published by RFT.gg: “Caps has always been the kind of player you could never fully prepare for. He has that rare ‘it’ factor. Caps has inspired an entire generation of Western players. He isn’t just one of the greatest League of Legends players of all time: he embodies everything we hope to see in our esports heroes.”
Caps’ Hall of Legends celebration continues in September
Riot’s official announcement confirms that its celebration will continue beyond the Berlin ceremony. A dedicated Hall of Legends website is scheduled to launch on August 24, followed by an in-game event on September 10. The event will include a pass focused on Caps’ career and exclusive cosmetics. Tristana will receive the Immortalized Legend skin connected to Caps.
Riot has also scheduled a full Hall of Legends film for September 10. As with Faker and Uzi, revenue from the related passes and bundles will be shared with Caps and his current and former teams, including G2 Esports.
How Riot selects Hall of Legends players
Players must compete at the Tier 1 level for at least five cumulative years to qualify for consideration. Riot employees from the major regions then nominate around 20 eligible players.
An independent panel of 50 esports veterans votes on those nominees. Its criteria include international appearances, regional and international championships, role-specific statistics, and contributions to competitive League of Legends.
There is one major achievement missing from the celebration: Caps has yet to win the Summoner’s Cup. He has lost both of his Worlds finals, but at 27 and under contract through 2027, he will enter the Summer split with another chance ahead. Worlds is scheduled to return to North America in October, giving Caps another opportunity to finish the story on his own terms.
