Whisper of the House preorders are now open on Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC ahead of the game’s August 27 launch. The $14.99 pixel-art cozy mystery simulation is available for $11.99 during the preorder period, a 20% discount. In an Xbox Wire announcement, GD Studio producer Zhicheng shared more details about the small team’s warm, house-organizing adventure.
Players will take on jobs across Whisper Town, from preparing homes and storefronts to sorting treasured belongings and tracking down missing cats. Completing these tasks earns rewards and money for a personal home, but the work also reveals that the town’s residents have more going on than cluttered rooms and unfinished chores.
Rooms carry Whisper Town’s quieter stories
Whisper of the House tells much of its story through the spaces players clean and arrange. A garden can hide strange secrets, faded photographs may turn up in a hospital room, and an abandoned alchemy lab can reveal traces of its former owner. Paying attention to those details gradually connects the town’s residents to a mystery built around their regrets, memories, and wishes.
Everyday objects hide little surprises
Housekeeping is not limited to putting objects in the right place. The game lets players interact with small details throughout each room, including a vintage gramophone, a rubber duck beside a bathtub, tissue boxes, drawers, and light switches. Those touches can change a room’s mood or simply provide a funny distraction when the next job can wait for a minute.
1,800 items put home design in players’ hands
Rewards from the town’s jobs can go toward a home built around almost any style. Whisper of the House includes more than 1,800 interactive items and over 10 floor plans, allowing players to create a book-filled study, an indoor greenhouse, or even a stocked doomsday bunker. Wallpapers, flooring, and some furniture can also be recolored or retextured to fit the room.
Xbox Play Anywhere covers both versions
The Xbox release supports Xbox Play Anywhere, so players can move between Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC while continuing their town projects and home decorations. The game will launch on August 27, with preorders remaining at the discounted $11.99 price before launch.
