Battlefield 6 Previews Its August 18 Top Gun Event With Carrier Strike Trailer
The crossover will add Gauntlet: Fighter Sweep, Carrier Strike, event challenges, themed cosmetics, and a limited-time currency.

Battlefield 6 will launch its Top Gun event on August 18, and the new Carrier Strike cinematic trailer previews the season’s jet-powered theme. The crossover will add two themed modes, event challenges, cosmetics, and a limited-time currency, according to the game’s Steam announcement.
Carrier Strike and Fighter Sweep lead the event
The event will center on Gauntlet: Fighter Sweep and Carrier Strike. Their names point to an aerial combat focus, with the Top Gun crossover bringing fighter aircraft and carrier operations into the spotlight. The announcement has not yet detailed the rules, team sizes, or objectives for either mode.
New challenges and Top Gun rewards are coming
Beyond the modes, players will have event challenges to complete and themed cosmetics to collect. A new limited-time currency will also be introduced for the crossover, although its exact uses and earning methods were not revealed.
Top Gun will arrive as part of Season 4 Phase 2 on August 18. The same update is planned to bring back Wake Island, alongside other naval and air-combat content detailed in our Top Gun update report.
The Carrier Strike trailer is available now, while the event itself remains scheduled for August 18. What do you think of Battlefield 6’s Top Gun crossover? Share your thoughts in the comments, and follow us on X, Bluesky, YouTube, Instagram, Steam, Telegram.
