One Battlefield 6 player claims Steam refunded them after Rush disappeared

Steam’s normal refund rules generally cover purchases made within two weeks with less than two hours played. One Battlefield 6 player claims support made an exception and issued a full refund for the game’s Phantom Edition after 470 hours, citing the removal of Rush and other modes from the standard Quickplay queue.

ExplorEverythingOnce made the claim in a Reddit post, saying that Rush had been their preferred mode throughout those 470 hours. The post included a redacted image of Steam purchase history that appeared to show a full refund for the premium edition, which the player said was purchased on launch day.

However, the image did not prove the stated playtime or show any messages exchanged with Steam Support. The refund claim remains unverified, even though Steam has previously reviewed requests outside its usual limits in exceptional circumstances.

Rush was the player’s breaking point

According to ExplorEverythingOnce, Battlefield Studios’ decision removed several popular modes from the regular Quickplay rotation at once. Rush was the one that pushed the player to request a refund after investing hundreds of hours in the game.

The player also said they had been a Steam customer for 22 years, had 2,500 games on their account, and had requested only one refund before this case. Those details are part of the user’s own account and have not been independently confirmed.

Battlefield Studios defended the queue changes

Battlefield Studios presented the mode removals as a way to improve queue times and matchmaking health. The studio said the change would concentrate players in a smaller group of more popular modes, a rationale outlined in its announcement on X.

The explanation has not gone over well with everyone. Recent Steam reviews have criticized the decision, while replies to Battlefield Studios’ announcement and posts in the Battlefield 6 community have shown similar frustration. For players who bought the game mainly for Rush, reducing the available Quickplay rotation can feel like a major change to the experience they paid for.

More Battlefield 6 content is scheduled for August 18

The dispute comes as Season 4 continues. Battlefield 6’s next Season 4 update is scheduled for August 18 and will return Wake Island, add two air-focused modes, introduce new aircraft and a sniper rifle, and expand the game’s Portal tools, as detailed in the next Season 4 update plans.
