Pokémon GO served up a very strange catch encounter for one Trainer. After tapping what appeared to be an ordinary overworld Pokémon, possibly a Growlithe, the catch screen identified it as MissingNo and displayed CP ????.
The creature itself looked completely corrupted. Instead of a recognizable Pokémon model, the encounter displayed a tall column of scrambled textures, making it look as if the game had briefly forgotten what belonged in the center of the screen.

The capture attempt also failed almost immediately. A Golden Razz Berry, an Ultra Ball, and a Great Curve Ball were not enough to secure the encounter. MissingNo broke free and fled right away.
MissingNo Does Not Appear to Be a Confirmed Pokémon GO Event
The encounter clearly displays the unusual name, placeholder CP, and corrupted model, but it does not establish why they appeared or whether MissingNo is part of a wider event. With only this incident to go on, it is best treated as an isolated, unverified glitch.
