War Thunder’s G.91 R/4 Anniversary Sale Runs Through August 10

The German and Italian premium jets cost 4,455 Golden Eagles each during the promotion, down from 8,910.

War Thunder is marking the 70th anniversary of the G.91’s first flight with a limited-time discount on its German and Italian versions. The offer runs from August 7 at 09:00 GMT until August 10 at 09:00 GMT, as announced by Gaijin Entertainment in a Steam announcement.

Both versions of the G.91 R/4 are available for 4,455 Golden Eagles, which is half their usual price. After August 10 at 09:00 GMT, each aircraft will return to its regular cost of 8,910 Golden Eagles.

Where to find the discounted aircraft

Players can purchase the aircraft through the following in-game paths:

  • Germany > Aviation > Premium vehicles
  • Italy > Aviation > Premium vehicles

The timing lines up with the G.91’s first flight on August 9, 1956. Developed in Italy, the jet became an important part of the country’s military aviation recovery after World War II. It later served with the Italian Air Force, the West German Luftwaffe, and the Portuguese Air Force, remaining in service from 1961 through 1995.

What the G.91 R/4 brings to battle

The G.91 R/4 is built for close-range air combat but can also assist allied ground forces. Its loadout supports rockets, air-to-ground missiles, bombs, and incendiary tanks, giving it several ways to attack targets during a match.

Compared with the R/3, the R/4 uses a lighter forward-firing setup with four machine guns. It also carries AA-20 Nord and AIM-9B Sidewinder air-to-air missiles, giving pilots extra tools when opposing aircraft enter the fight.

The discount gives collectors and air-combat players until August 10 to pick up either national version before the price returns to normal.
